Cannot install Snow Leopard 10.6.3 to Mid 2009 MBP

I have recently changed a defective Drive to a new SSD and I cannot install Snow Leopard from purchased install disk. I was suggested through a chat with apple to try this option because I do not have any other way to install OS. The old drive would not let me boot to recovery. What are some of the options to get an OS installed?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

What happens when you try to install from the DVD? Error message(s)?

If you have access to another Mac computer, sign into the App Store using your Apple ID, and download El Capitan using the link below. Quit the installer. You can make a bootable USB stick to install using these free programs which will do all the work for you.

Bootable USB Flash Drive – Diskmaker X Disk Creator oruse Apple’s method Create a bootable installer for OS

El Capitan

Another option is to take it to an Apple Store to have an OS installed.
