Scan problems with Canon mg3500 series

Hello,

i am a novice with an iMac and apple OS (High Sierra) and are trying to get the scanner of my Canon pixma 3500 series to work, printing works fine and i can scan form the OS but nu from any other application (not selectable), can someone please help me?

One of the applications I use is PhotoScore 8 ultimate to scan sheet music, it seems to need a twain driver.

I found the lide110 driver for MacOs, now I can select a driver in the application but get the message "Cannot communicate with scanner" which is correctly connected and turned on.

Now I have to fall back to my Windows 10 PC, and that is not why I bought a quite expensive iMac 😕

Thanks in advance.

regards Peter

iMac (Retina 4K, 21.5-inch, 2017), macOS High Sierra (10.13.5), i7 processor, 16GB mem

Hi,

It seems that Apple has "recently" added support for your scanner, please check here:

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201465

In this case: uninstall your old driver, unplug your scanner, restart, check if your Internet connection is active/stable, plug your scanner and try to add it again in System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners.

Otherwise I assume you already checked there:

https://www.canon-europe.com/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifuncti onals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg3500_series.aspx

Otherwise it becomes (just a tad...😕) more complicated...

http://www.ellert.se/twain-sane/

This "should" work with High Sierra too (like many things...).

Note what dependancies you have to install before.

Please see the author's note about Apple‘s Image Capture application.

(in other words, let's be prepared to a total abandon of twain by Apple in the years to come...)

Regards.

Hello Mike,

Thanks for your reply, what I am realy looking for is a twain driver which I can use with High Sierra 10.13.6 and within PhotoScore 8 Ultimate and SmartScore x2 pro.

These program let you scan sheet music into the program so the program can use the input to generate music scores.

Incase I can't find a proper solution I will follow your advise and try Vuescan, thanks for your support.

regards Peter
