Fonts aren't showing up in Font Book

There aren't ANY fonts showing up in my font book, not even default fonts. And when I try to install custom fonts, it doesn't let me as my screen is stuck showing a pop up that says "Multiple Copies of this font are installed" but all of the options are grayed out. I don't know what to do??? If anyone can help it'll be great! (Also this is just font book. In other places like Word and Photoshop, fonts are showing up fine.)

Here is a screenshot so you can see what I mean:

Notice the grayed out notification box, and the fact that it says "All Fonts (0 Fonts)" on the top. Not even default fonts like Times are showing up.

Hello scully's bae,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that all fonts are missing from your Mac and you're unable to install custom fonts. I can surely see how this could be concerning. I'm happy to help.

First, try restoring the fonts that came with your Mac using the steps and information below:

You can restore the fonts that were originally installed on your Mac. This may be useful if you’re having issues with Font Book. Restoring the standard fonts moves any fonts you’ve installed into a separate folder, which makes them unavailable to use in

Choose File > Restore Standard Fonts.

Any fonts you’ve installed are placed in /Library/Fonts (Removed) or in ~/Library/Fonts (Removed). To install those fonts again, just reinstall them.

Restore fonts that came with your Mac

If the issue persists, test while in safe mode. Starting in safe mode allows your Mac to run certain checks, remove caches, and prevent login items from automatically launching. This can isolate possible third party issues. Use the steps and information in the link below for assistance with safe mode:
Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Let us know the results. Please include any other troubleshooting steps you may have tried.

Have a wonderful day!
