Apple id/icloud profile photo won't show

Hi all, I have the same problem as described here - My iCloud profile picture doesnt load in Settings on iOS 11. I'm trying to change my Apple ID/iCloud profile photo, I am able to choose it but then nothing changes and my initials are still there. Activating "contacts" in iCloud settings as suggested in the above-mentioned thread doesn't help. I can see the uploaded photo at icloud.com, but not on my iPhone. I will be grateful for any tip.

iPhone 7, iOS 11.4.1

I have the same issue. Under your personal contacts info click edit. Once you are in edit mode hit on your name and press space and then done and then reverse it back again. icloud is a bit touchy and would need this procedure to be repeated a couple of times until it solidifies. It has been giving me headache with Apple Watch and iPad for a long time. Simply but rare way to fix it. Good luck
