Can't view Pinterest thumbnails in Safari on iPad Air 2
My wife likes to browse thumbnails of decorating ideas on the Pinterest web site. She uses an iPad, and until very recently, she had no trouble pulling up pages of such thumbnails. A few weeks ago, those pages of thumbnails have refused to load. For example, she keys in a search for "cabin decorating ideas." Back in the old days, that search would bring a long list of possibilities, with Pinterest among them. She'd click on a Pinterest result, and a sheet of thumbnails of Pinterest items would appear. Now, when she clicks on a Pinterest result, she gets the Pinterest.com web site, but the page is blank.
I've spent some time tonight searching for an explanation. I know full well that Pinterest is notorious for demanding that one have a Pinterest account before looking around at their stuff. A few years ago, my wife opened a Pinterest account (at the urging of our daughter), and quickly found that Pinterest likes to flood one's in-box with "suggestions." The experience was overwhelming, and she cancelled her account. Even so, since she cancelled her account, my wife has been able to view pages of Pinterest thumbnails without logging in ... until now.
But here's the weird thing: She can get the page of thumbnails on her iPhone and on my MacBook Pro! I set up my MacBook Pro and my wife's iPad side-by-side with a fresh Safari page on the screen and keyed in the exact same search words. I get the thumbnails on my MacBook, but I get a blank (white) screen on the iPad.
I should add that she has no trouble bringing up material from non-Pinterest sites.
I thought I could fix the problem by resetting the iPad, but no joy. I hope someone here can help us understand what's going on. I don't think we can trace this behavior to Pinterest (we can see their stuff on my Mac, for example). Something's going on with the iPad or Safari, don't you think? If that's where the trouble lies, what do we do to change that behavior?
