Apple remote desktop failed connection

I have Apple Remote Desktop 3.9 working properly on a remote Mac Pro with OSX 10.13.4

The connection is fine but every 3-4 days I fail to connect to it from a remote location.

The only solution is to actually reboot the Mac Pro and then the connection is fine again.

The Mac Pro does not have a screen attached. Even when I connect a monitor to it the same problem occurs - it works and then about 3 days later it fails. It is pointless having a thunderbolt monitor connected to it as no one uses it locally.

What could possibly be the problem? I know the Internet connection to it is fine because - even when ARD fails - I can get a Teamviewer connection to it. So I know the machine is working. I often wonder if I could use Team viewer to restart ARD on the remote machine but even that does not help. Only a Machine reboot helps.

Has anyone else had this problem or anyone with a solution to troubleshoot it?

Thanks in advance.

Try holding some other donnection for several days, and see if that works. Could be (for instance) some router or firewall on your network or somewhere in the intervening ISP networks deciding that the connection has failed, or due filling or purging some routing or connection table somewhere, or a lack of a keepalive making the connection appear idle.

ssh is probably an easier way to access the system and for a restart if necessary, and an ssh connection can also test the connectivity.

Also see if there’s more than one network link active on the Mac Pro. If there is, see if reconfiguring the network and running with just one link active avoids the disconnections.

Having same issue here since I upgraded our servers to 10.13.6. Second server started failing with ARD like a few minutes ago. Only solution is reboot but it will only last a few minutes. And rebooting my file server and the one hosting VMs is annoying for all my users !

I tried to fully reinstall the server from scratch and it worked... 15 minutes.

So I thought it was my computer hosting the Remote Desktop Admin console so I fully reinstalled my computer from scratch and it worked... 20 minutes.

Sooooo there is a bug that might affect more and more users if someone has a solution it's welcome otherwise Apple please take this in consideration as we are using this tool in a Professional way and this kind of bug makes it very difficult to manage servers and clients.

Thanks in advance
