Apple Watch Series 2--Cellular Carrier Switch

In planning to switch cellular carriers from AT&T to Verizon, we were informed by Verizon that our Apple Watch Series 2 are not compatible with the Verizon network. I wanted to confirm if this is true.

If its actually a Series 2, then there is nothing to activate on Verizon for it. Whether they support it or not, is irrelevant since there's nothing for them to actually do with it.

As said Series 2 Apple Watches have no cellular hardware, so nothing for Verizon or AT&T to even activate or have any involvement with on the watch at all.

The Carrier used on your iPhone would have no relation to the Apple Watch in that case.

Only the Series 3 Cellular model would require activation and support from a carrier. If its not a Series 3, your cell carrier is irrelevant to it.

It can only be a Carrier issue with a Series 3.

Again, thank you. I am grateful for everyone's knowledge here. Do you think it is worth a try with the series 2 watch once I have the new phone/carrier?

I have a Series 2 and am very happy with it. It doesn't have cellular capabilities but it's still a very nice watch. It will work just fine with whatever new iPhone you get, regardless of carrier.

The Series 2 Apple Watch does not have any type of cellular support whatsoever. It's a GPS/Wifi only device.

Whatever carrier you use with your Paired iPhone is irrelevant to the Series 2 Apple Watch.

If you are referring to a Series 3 Apple Watch which does have a Cellular Model, then yes, Verizon is unable to activate watches used with AT&T or T-Mobile on their own network for some reason. This has nothing to do with the Apple Watch itself, as all U.S. carriers support the same model of Apple Watch. Its an internal issue with Verizon.
