Using TenFourFox on Tiger 10.4

Hi everyone. You may be aware that TenFourFox is one of the most up to date browsers still available for Tiger 10.4.

I just wanted to let you know that if you're using TenFourFox on your vintage Macs, you must be running at least Tiger 10.4.9. 10.4.8 and below will not work! 10.4.9 was released March 13, 2007 and you can download it here:

I discovered this during testing last evening on my vintage PowerBook G4 667. If you are not running at least this minimum level of 10.4, you will receive the following error: "You cannot use the application "TenFourFox" with this version of Mac OS X. I hope you find this information useful.

When you download these kinds of older update or upgrade systems, be sure

to create standalone archives of their installers & other parts, offline, for reuse.

Fairly recent re-install of Tiger 10.4.11 to an iBook G4 (12-in) 1.33GHz mid 2005

back down from Leopard 10.5.8, was facilitated by archives on hand. This model

configuration prefers original Tiger 10.4(.11) as shipped. It runs faster and jumps

higher than bloated Leopard 10.5.8. Even w/ 1.5GB RAM & 55% free HDD space.

Checked & saw you can get some other items -- such as iTunes for Tiger / Leopard:

From Apple servers. And the last version Combo 10.4.11 already had offline copy

on files and in bootable full system clone on FW400 LaCie HDD for my PPC Macs.

Archive and backup while available. Note the older ATA/IDE drives are harder to get.

These macs can run from external powered FW enclosed (oxford-type or equiv) chipset.

{See owc site for options, including SSD upgrade for older ATA rotational HDD.}
