Update trusted phone number

i recenrly changed sim Cards and phone numbers. As normal, my iPhone wants me to update my trusted phone number. The update button has the correct number, “Update to +1 xxx 0000000“. But when I press the button to update, it goes to the verification code screen the number changes and says “verification code sent to +1 xxx xxx0000000” the xxx is the country code and it’s repeated which makes the number incorrect so I’m not getting the verification code To update the number. How do I fix this?
