Save of iOS iMovie project to iCloud fails

Will it save to iTunes? Note the project file itself is likely to be quite small, since it relies on the resources stored elsewhere on the device. Removing the local copy of the project from the phone isn't likely to save much space, while removing the videos will break the project. iOS also seems to lack a "remove download" option which would remove the local copy while preserving the item in the cloud.

I guess it's a matter of words where it stores. I would have said it stores to iCloud, not iTunes, and I can see it in my Files app once it's uploaded, and it certainly consumes from my iCloud storage quota.

Yes the project is small in principle, but when you store it to iCloud, it incorporates all the videos. I don't know if this is because I don't use iCloud (but rather OneDrive) for my photos and videos, so it may detect there's no source file to point to and uploads all content.

In any case, after trying a dozen times spread over multiple days, it suddenly worked. The iMovie projects are now safely stored on iCloud, allowing me to free my phone memory while still being able to pick them up later for continued editing should I wish. Edited movies published on Facebook and YouTube :-)
