IOS system audio equalizer available?

I'm interested in the ability to equalize audio output from a number of different sources, and through several different Bluetooth and other audio output devices. Seems like our phones are stuck in music-listening mode. I listen much more to spoken word, which is helped by less bass, more treble. Many Bluetooth speakers have the same prejudices as the phone itself, doubling the problem. If there are any on-board tools to help with this, I'm unable to find them.

All I find at the app store when searching for EQ apps are players. Mostly music players ... That are offering bass boost, and have no podcast functions.

I don't really want another special-purpose player. Just an audio-out filter that would allow me to set up and save half a dozen presets.

Any info anyone can supply will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks, Giulio -

Unfortunately, it's not much help. It is possible to load some spoken things I listen to into the Music player. But not everything by a long shot. YouTube for instance. In the case of podcasts, I can load them into the music player - but then I lose almost all the features my podcast player gives me. Speed control, search control, automatic download and disposal ...

I'm really surprised it's not available system-wide - like the sound output controls of OSX on my laptop.

*sigh*

I hadn't realized that VLC is available for IOS devices. Interesting! Thanks for the idea.

VLC is interesting because it's able to play stuff from so many sources. For me, it still has the same problems as other players do, though. I really do want to use a podcast player for listening to podcasts because of their search and speed controls, etc. None of the podcast players I've checked into so far have EQ available.

I'm beginning to think there are no hooks in IOS to allow inserting an output EQ - or someone would have done it already. Some of what's driving my wishes is that I'm a pro audio (PA) guy, and know how much can be done to improve listening with audio filters - especially when settings can be stored and named. I really dislike artificially boosted bass - and it's *everywhere*. Built into a lot of Bluetooth speakers. Bleah!

I'm a player (piano and keyboards) AND a listener (old model 3 Allison speakers, managed by a very old SAE pre and SAE final amplifier, and... with a very, very vintage Soundcraftsmen EQ).

That's how I use to listen to music. And I clearly understand your Bleah! 😝.

Let's hope in future we can have some good way to manage audio in our iPhone.

If you find something interesting around, please keep me informed (I'll do the same for you).

Have a nice day.

Giulio
