AVAST and High CPU usage

I was having problems with a very slow Power book. Activity monitor indicated high CPU usage by kernel_tasks, and close to 95% of CPU used by system. I tried all suggestion indicated on this page. Finally I unistalled AVAST withe their own uninstaller. My Power book now works as new, CPU usage is normal and system uses less than 10% of CPU.

"Runaway user process" via EtreCheckPro I ran EtreCheckPro - just checking: Only "trouble" found was Runaway User Process DiskSpaceEfficiency (Apple source) using 93.52% of CPU and Memory & Energy use. Huh? Is this really a problem for concern?

Total AV Removal I have tried to do this following instruction on program site, and going into Finder and dragging icon to the trash bin, but I keep getting a message stating that the program is open so cannot be deleted ! I emailed Total AV and received an automated response saying that technical support is only available to paying customers !! Has anyone any suggestions ?

As often said here, you should not install third party apps that claim to protect, clean, manage, boost performance etc. Avast would be an example of one such app.
