lightning USB cable use for 4K Apple tv

I don't understand why the USB lightning cable is included in the box with the Apple tv 4K equipment if the literature says that it does not apply to the Siri for Apple tv. If I connect it using my USB converter adapter to the USB-C port (I use a Hoo-Too) no light goes on indicating the cable is working. And while I assume Bluetooth is operative there is no Bluetooth listing in System Preferences. Hmmm.

Argh. I do know that. All of that. and I included the smilie to show I did not think you thought I made up the reference. So here's my last post. I have a MacBook 2015. It has a USB-C port. I know that the 4K doesn't have one. I did not expect to connect the lightning cable to it. The language on that warning was ambiguous to say the least but I ill now ignore it and connect the lightning cable to my Mac using my adapter for my Mac's USB-C port. End of story.

Where does it say it does not apply to it? I believe you have misread something.

The Lightning to USB cable is used to charge the Siri Remote specifically.

Bluetooth settings on the Apple Tv can be found in Settings->Remotes and Devices->Bluetooth

See here for details: Use Bluetooth accessories with your Apple TV 4K or Apple TV (4th generation) - Apple Support

And you may want to look at the Apple TV manual: Apple TV 4K - User Guide - Apple Support

Did not say you made it up. I said, you misread.

The text you mention, refers to the actual USB-C port, ie the actual hole on the device, on the Apple TV 4th generation itself. Not the Lightning cable it comes with.

The Apple TV 4K does not have that port any way. So nowhere for you to plug it into on a Apple TV 4K.

Also USB-C and Lightning are 2 different types of connectors. One cannot be connected into a port for the other.

The included Lightning to USB cable can be connected to any USB port on your TV, or Mac or PC, or even an iPhone or iPad charger to charge the Siri remote. The Lightning side plugs into the Siri Remote.
