Swap MacBook Pro keyboard from 2011 to 2012?

Hello folks - I have a 2012 MBP on which the delete key has failed. It anppears to be a hardware issue as rounding up all the usual software suspects hasn't improved things. I have a 2011 MBP that had a working keyboard when it died last winter. Does anyone know if I can install the 2011 keyboard in the 2012 MBP?

Keyboard not working i am trying to migrate old Mac high Sierra to new iMac Catalina, my keyboard on my old Mac has stopped working and I have trouble shooted just about every tip out there and nothing. How reset the keyboard type to the motherboard ? I changed the built in keyboard for my Macbook Pro 13" A1502 2015 from a non ANSI (in this case a JIS) to a US keyboard. All the keys work after the transplant, however the motherboard does not recognize the change and believes it is still connected to the old keyboard. The keyboard Viewer still shows the old physical key shapes and positions. old physical keyboard (JIS) : Tab, qwertyuiop@[ Return new physical layout (US) : Tab, qwertyuiop[]\ effectively missing the backslash / key. Other keys such as +=-_';:"<> are also different. Is there a way for the computer to poll the keyboard and acquire the correct layout via the hardware or during installation? I suspect that there is a way the International MacBooks are configured at the factory during manufacturing. I have tried Command R, NVRAM, Key-mapping, SMC, booting from external system disk, re-installation, etc. Perhaps someone with experience in swapping localized keyboards or repairs may know? **Please note my query is not about external USB keyboard or wireless Bluetooth; it is the keyboard on the MacBook body top which I have replaced. JIS US (ANSI)

I can say typically a keyboard replacement is a top case replacement.
