I am in Messages (iPhone 6) and have a series of attachments ub a conversation. I press and hold one of the attachments and I set a list of options. One of them is "Save". I press it but where does the attachment go? As usual Apple's "help" is silent on this. Thanks in advance.
PS I know I could have better "control" by using Share but I want to know what the Save feature does. Thanks

You need to tell us what type of file it is that you are trying to save. Saving a photo will place it in the camera roll of the photos app. I have tons of texts on my phone and iPad but I don’t have any other file types to test this other than photos.
You need to have an app on your iOS device that can read and save the type of file that you want to save and in other apps, you would access those apps by using the Share options. Do you see the Share option when you tap and hold down on the file?

Yes, and that's how I got them (Air dropped) to my Mac. You are right. Went to my Photos Library.
My question about where the attachments goes was more educational then functional for this effort. Thank you very much
When I swipe down all I get are notifications.
Have you swiped down from the center of the screen and used the search feature on the device to find the file/s?
