MBP 13 2018 USB-C to DisplayPort doesn't work

Hello,

I wanted to connect my new MBP 13 2018 to my AOC G2460PF display with a USB-C to DisplayPort Cable I just bought. But it does not work. My MBP doesn't detect any display and the display gets no input signal. I need to know if it is generally impossible to run my external display with this setup or something is wrong.

Adding a separate display to my New MBP Interesting issue. I have a Aorus FO48U gaming monitor. I find that when i first connect the MBP to power and then plug in a separate external display (USB-C to DisplayPort) , there is no signal to the monitor at first. I must open the MBP, log into the mac, then the display picks up. Then I can close the laptop and use the display with the MBP lid closed. Not sure why this is happening. My other MacBooks all worked normally by plugging in an external display and keeping it closed provided power was t the MBP. Any ideas? Thanks!! AJB

Macbook m1air detects external display but external display doesn't shows up . I connected usb c to (5 in one connector as usb 3.0 ,ethernet, and type c port, hdmi )and hdmi to vga connecter and connected my vga monitor to that 5 in one connector which is connected to macbook m1 air using type c. My macbook detects display and settings appears but dispaly doesn't works. It's just as in state off .

MacBook 2017 won't connect to ASUS display using USB-C Hi. I recently bought an ASUS PA247CV display to use with my 2017 MacBook. It was advertised as connecting for A/V and power through USB-C. But when I connect the computer to the display using a USB-C cable, it doesn't work. I briefly hear the beep as if the MacBook is being connected to power, and the charging icon appears in the top info bar, but after a second or two the connection is lost and the charging icon disappears. The display itself reads "USB-C No Signal" even though USB-C is set as the input. When I asked ASUS support about this in a live chat they said to ask if my MacBook supports DP Alt Mode, and that if it does, the display should be plug and play, with no need for drivers. I have no idea whether my MacBook supports DP Alt Mode. A quick Google search leads me to believe no Macs support this, but I'd appreciate any additional color. If I can't connect via USB-C for A/V and power as hoped for, is there a way to still use this display? Perhaps with an adapter for another connection type like HDMI from the USB-C port on my MacBook? Or should I return it? Thank you!
