Apple Schoolwork app does not work properly

I’ve been testing the new Apple Schoolwork app, but I can’t get it to work properly. I as a teacher can create and publish handouts that pupils can see, but students' progress and hand-ins does not show up on my (teacher’s) device. Anyone had any sucess? Tips on how to troubleshoot?

iPad Wi-Fi, iOS 11.4.1

Of course. I initiated contacted with support quite a while ago, but thought that it would be a good idea to post here to find out if anyoone else had similar experiences (and like in my last question, find out if anyone actually has made it to work).

Yesterday I had a long chat with a nice chap at support, doing screensharing, reproducing the problem, troubleshooting, diagnostics etc., but still not any solution. Diagnostic logs has been sent and the case is as I understand being escalated in the support system. I'll post back here when/if we reach a solution.

Still happy to hear from others, of course, especially if someone has managed to solve a similar issue.

Thanks welafever, but I can assure you that I‘ve thouroghly read that info, including the info for administrators that can be found by following links (as I’m so lucky to be the admin for our fleet of iPads). As far as I can tell everything is set up correctly according to instructions ... and if it it was not, I would have guessed that I could not even be able to publish handouts to students. I’ve also tried to upgrade to version 1.0.1 that should fix “stability issues”, but did not fix problem for us.

Curious to know if you (or anyone else) actually have successfully received hand-ins from students? I‘ve tried quite a bit of googling, but cant find any reference to anyone having actually tested the functionality of the app. Everything I can find so far is based on Apples anouncement a couple of months ago.

Hi djahnes,

Good to hear that I'm not alone :-)
The guy from support I mentioned called me back a few days later, and confirmed that the case was escalated and said thanks for the effort with the diagnostic logs etc, and said I would hear from him if any news. Have not heard anything yet. Let us hope that they have found the problem and just getting ready to push an update to the app.

I've just startet the first iPad-Class in our region, but unfortunately I had several problems to solve (mostly I was not responsible for the failure) and some of them still not solved. One of those big problems are the missing or not working call back of the schoolwork app. It would be great app, but currently it is not working as supposed because of the problem described above. Let us know, whether you found a workaround...

Is there someone who is able to work with the app?

To your question: No, I've not found a workaround, and have since my last post I've only had a brief contact from support a week or two ago that indicated that something had been done to fix the issue, and was asked to test again. I reported back that there has been no change for me, and got a thank you and some assurence that the case would still be worked on ... I'll get back here to post if any significant is to be reported.

(i will test again under iOS 12 about to roll out ... but will probably delay the download/install a few days)

Here is what one of my teachers sent me about SchoolWork. The students are not able to mark “done” on their accounts after completing a task. Handouts show up as “late” which bothers them, but more than that, the assignments will start to pile up and it will be harder to see which one is the most current.Last week, some Kahoot assignments were not populating as done in the teacher view even though they did them. This is minor, but if I start to use Kahoot for graded practice, it would be nice for it to work correctly. Also, I tried to duplicate an assignment from one class to another and got the messagethat action failed twicebut then it was there when I checked.
