Apple watch pairing with Plantronics

Trying to set up my Apple Watch (series 3) to my Plantronics Backbeat Fit headphones. The headphones pair perfectly with my iPhone 8. But when I try to pair with my Apple Watch, the watch simply keeps searching with no list of devices to choose from. Anyone else experience this problem? Any suggestions?
