burning smell from mac

my charger for my 2012 mac book pro broke earlier and won’t close all the way, it open a little and is just staying that way. i went to plug it into my mac and it would go on and off again. it would charge then stop and charge and stop and keep doing that. i plugged my mac into another mac book pro charger to see if it was my mac and it worked fine. i let my charger cool off and plugged it back into my laptop to see what would happen and my mac shut off and there was a pop noise and it smells likes it's burning and won't turn on. i tried to plug it in the other charger to see what would happen and nothing. does anyone know what happened? can it be fixed?

Hey, emhowe22!

You may have encountered a faulty and or broken charger. It is recommended that you do not use faulty, broken, or uncertified chargers with your Apple devices. This action may have caused your device to surge and turn itself off in order to protect its data and components. I would suggest visiting your nearest Apple Store for further assistance with your device before moving any further.
