I have created some large orchestral templates which result in files of about 85mb. When using the "save as template" command, they simply don't show up in the "New From Template" dialog. They are in the correct folder - Audio Music Apps > Project Templates.
When I save anything else with just a few tracks as a template, then they DO show up successfully. Is there a size-limit issue when dealing with templates?
If you look at factory templates, they are all around 1-2 MB in size. Perhaps, size could be an issue. You could reduce the size if you do not include assets in template projects.
Here's how: go to File > Project Settings > Assets tab. Uncheck everything before saving the project as template.
It's a bit weird that the resulting template files are so big, though. I think, that's where the issue is. If you look at Orchestral factory template, it has a lot of tracks. But it's not 85 MB in size, but 1-2 MB instead.
No worries. Could you describe the process for creating those templates in detail, please? If possible with screenshots. There might be a possibility it's a bug, but that will be clear if another user can reproduce the issue.
That was a great suggestion thanks, and I figured that was probably the issue, but when I looked at the assets, none of them were checked. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance. I did actually put an alias in the templates folder which referred to the original on my desktop, but that didn't work either.
I have set up 29 tracks, and assigned every track to a new instance of Steinberg's HALion SE 3 plug in. Although I could use fewer instances of Halion and load them up, I prefer separate instances for each track. Each instance is loaded with six different articulations, so altogether about 32GB of samples have been loaded, although that shouldn't affect the template. I have one other track with is assigned to Synthogy Ivory. I'm not using any effects plugins in this basic document, and nothing else that I can think of which would cause a problem for the template. Again, if I create a template with one or two tracks of Halion alone, it's fine, and same thing with Ivory as well.
