If someone turns their phone off, can I still see his exact location?

My boyfriend is sharing indefinetely with me his location on IMessages, but I would like to know that if he suddenly turn his phone off for any reason, would I still see his exact location? Or would the exact location he’s at not refresh (it will remain the previous spot he was at before turning their phone off) cause I don’t think it appears a notification when someone turns their phone off as when someone stop sharing their location with you, right? Please answers

Detecting his location when his phone is on requires an internet connection at both ends to send the information.

Detecting his location when his phone is off would require magic 🙂.

That’s what I thought regarding to what you’re saying that we need magic to track location when the phone is off. :) , my question is that if that person happens to turn their phone off, if it’s gonna show the previous location that person was at before turning the phone off? Or if there’s a little hint that’s letting me know he has hes phone off so I won’t track his location we use iMessages.

I'm not sure, but I've seen it suggested that it holds the last location. If someone else doesn't chip in on this I should ask again, specifying showing the last location and knowing if it's been turned off.

suggests that locations (and last time it connected) are available for 24 hours. After that, its status is just “Offline”.
