Safari can't save bookmarks because of imported bookmarks from another browser

Exactly the same problem as described in this old thread : Safari bookmark not working

Except that it's because of Firefox bookmarks and even if the solution works momentarily, the problem appears again and again.

I had four windows with over a hundreds tabs each, and I can't save them, in fact I have partially lost them all, they are in an extension called tab lister.

Someone please tell me how to get rid of this bookmark bug, I don't want Firefox bookmarks in Safari and I want Safari bookmarking to work.

Might be a corrupt .plist.

Do a backup, preferably 2 backups on 2 separate drives.

Quit the application.

Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Safari/Bookmarks.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.

Restart the computer, open the application, and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.

If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

See if you can save Bookmarks in the Safe Mode.

Safe Mode - About

Safe Mode Startup – El Capitan. also Sierra

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor. Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. You can run the report for free at least once, but if you run it several times, at some point it will ask you to pay a license fee.

That's the solution given in the thread that I mentioned, solution that either works momentarily or not at all, that's why I'm posting this thread.

I just tried once again, quit safari, found Bookmarks.plist, moved it to the desktop, restarted computer, tried to save bookmarks (did not work), moved back Bookmarks.plist (still doesn't work).
