Sony RX-10 IV Raw Files not supported in High Sierra despite being on the list

You can check, if the RAW support has been installed correctly, if you click the  menu in the upper left corner of the display, while holding down the options key ⌥ . Then select "System Information" and scroll down to Software > Raw Support. My Mac is not showing a Sony RX-10 IV in the list of installed RAW Support. Are you seeing it there?

Could you post a sample RAW image somewhere for download, so we can test this?

Photos can open the image, but shows a different camera model: Sony DSC-RX10M4

This model is also listed as installed RAW Support in the System Information.

I suspect that looking up the system profile might be running the lsregister command to update the database with the installed raw support. Sometimes it helps to run lsregister manually, as described here by Alan Roseman: Re: Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish

FWIW, the Sony RX-10 IV is not listed under System Information > RAW support but it is listed on the Apple RAW support page. You can find some sample images below.

I downloaded some sample files and they work fine for me. They do have to be uncompressed .arw files.

It is just making me nervous, if the system information is inconsistent with the support pages.

FWIW, it's not the first time there have been inconsistencies and I'm sure it won't be the last. 😉

Same camera. Just a different description. "IV" is 4 in roman numerals.

I know the Roman numerals, but what about the "M" in the name?

Well of course I could be mistaken but I assume the "M" is short for model.

The same camera is referred to by both names.
