The remote on my iPhone will not pair up with my Apple TV. I have gone through the steps and entered the code the Apple TV told me to enter. When I try to open remote from control center it just keeps searching for an Apple TV.

If you can't set up the Apple TV Remote app or the Apple TV Remote in Control Center,* try these steps. After each step, check to see if you can set up the app:

  1. Check that your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple TV. On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi. On your Apple TV, go to Settings > Network.
  2. Make sure that your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is updated to the latest version of iOS, Apple TV is updated to the latest version of tvOS, and Apple TV Remote app is updated to the latest version.
  3. Restart your Apple TV with the Apple TV Remote or unplug your Apple TV, then plug it back in. Also try restarting your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
  4. If you still can't set up the Apple TV Remote app, contact Apple Support.

*To use the Apple TV Remote in Control Center, you need an Apple TV 4K or Apple TV (4th generation).
