Cannot Airplay to LAN (Asus Wifi - Apple Airport Switch)

Hi, I am having trouble with my network settings and was hoping someone might be able to help me. I'm unable to airplay to the devices directly connected to my network. I believe I need to change the settings on my Asus, but I'm not sure what to change (not very knowledgable in networking). My set up is as follows:

Cable Modem -> Apple AirPort Extreme (N), (Wireless OFF, acting as a non-wifi router) -> Asus RT68 AC1900 WIFI Router & Other Directly Connected Devices

So my device is plugged directly into the AirPort Extreme (as is the Asus wifi router), but my iPhone cannot airplay to the devices directly connected into the Airport.

Any help would really be appreciated!!!

Is the Asus setup in AP mode.. ? If you have it setup as router it will do what you are saying, blocking access to the Extreme.

Go to the administration tab.. By default the Asus will be in wireless router mode. You want it to be AP mode.

However let me say if you have not yet done this change it is really important to keep track of the IP of the Asus otherwise you will find it difficult to rediscover it once you change over. I suggest you disconnect the Asus from the Airport.. go to the LAN tab and set the IP address from same range as the Extreme.. let me guess the Extreme is at default IP so that means 10.0.1.x set the Asus lan to 10.0.1.201 with standard subnet mask 255.255.255.0 DNS and Gateway are pretty much irrelevant but you can set them to the Airport value 10.0.1.1 as well.

The better method.. IMHO is to move the Asus to the main router job. It is far superior router to the old Extreme.

Then you can plug the Extreme into the Asus as a bridge device and plug your airplay stuff into it.

If you cannot do this due to layout it does not matter..

So my device is plugged directly into the AirPort Extreme (as is the Asus wifi router), but my iPhone cannot airplay to the devices directly connected into the Airport.

Is the Extreme really an express??

What are the devices you are plugging into the Extreme for airplay?

The devices should work from the Asus equally well. Did you try it?

Asus handles airplay bonjour etc.. very well.
