When I take a screenshot on my mac mini it turns up white

I am using Mac OS High Sierra on a 2011 Mac Mini and every time I take a screen shot (command+Shift 3 or 4) the image turns out blank/white. I have tried opening using various programs and always white. I have rebooted by mac several times. This is only a recent development in the last 5-6 months. All my other macs work perfectly. I checked the shortcut keyboard keys in preferences and the boxes are checked. I also restored default settings. Anyone have anything else I could try or have the same issue. Please help.

Mac mini, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6)

Hey, Savabien007.

I see that a screenshot of your Mac mini isn't working as expected. Whenever you take a photo of your entire screen or just a section, it turns out blank. Great job on the troubleshooting you've tried, I'm happy to help.

Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac -- Restart your Mac in safe mode and test how it responds. If there are no issues, reboot normally and test again in your own user account. Remember this when booting in safe mode: Limited graphics performance in OS X recovery or safe mode

How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac -- If the issue is also happening in safe mode, use this article to create and test a new user account. This will demonstrate if the issue is isolated to your account, or if its system wide.

Let me know how that goes, and take care!

Hi Sarah,

Thank you very much for your response. Your suggestion to safe boot did resolve the problem. I could successfully screen capture while in safe boot mode. However, the moment I rebooted in normal mode my screen capture problems returned. I guess it is a compatibility issue with one of my programs. Do you have any suggestions as to how I might identify the program that is disrupting screen capture on my mac?
