using a new macbook pro 2018 (10.13.6) trying to temporarily change the mac address for security purposes and cannot change it. have tried many variations of ifconfig,apps, etc... with no success. Disabling SPI does not work either. Please advise. thanks much

You mention using WiFi. Did you try this:
sudo ifconfig enX Wi-Fi xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
where enX is the adaptor interface (0,1,2, etc.) and the desired Mac Address?
Hi Simdo01. I am seeing the same behaviour on my new MBP 2018 (10.13.6). This was not an issue on my old Mac Book Air.

What does the terminal command
sudo ifconfig en0 ether aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ffexecutes with no change(s). I have tried this with no success. this includes disconnecting wifi prior to change.
Probably a stupid question, but are you using the correct enX? It may not be en0.
I tested on an older MBP running High Sierra and didn't have a problem changing it using the above syntax with sudo.
Ya.checked that. I had an older MBP and it worked just fine. Will keep looking.
tried most all of these options as well. Using networksetup -listallhardwareports it shows en0 as the Wi-Fi interface (only connection being used) and still can't change it. Frustrating! thx
yes, but I get "ifconfig: Wi-Fi: bad value" on en0. This is strange as I had an older Mac (2012) and had no issues changing the Mac address.
