Error when activating iMessage with Apple ID on iPhone and Mac

Recently I've been trying to Sign into iMessage with my Apple ID on my iPhone and Mac but it says "An error occurred during activation. Try again". I have restarted my devices, check for Date and Time settings and made sure they're software is up to date. Any other solutions?


I recently changed my Apple ID email, but the error has persisted even before I changed it.

I had already entered this page and none of the solutions seemed to work. I finally called an Apple technician and resolved my issue. Apparently, when Apple detects suspicious activity in your Apple ID account, such as spam, the devices get blocked as a protective measure. The technician unblocked my devices which permitted me once again to sync my Apple ID with my iMessage and FaceTime.

I don’t know if they have a customer service email, but the call service was pretty great – I didn’t have to wait more than 5 min to get connected to a technitian, the technitian was really nice and paid much attention to the issue and when I accidentally hung up they called back to ensure I got the issue resolved. So, I really recommend calling. If you aren’t convinced you can always google “Apple Support” and find their contact links! That’s how I did it. Good luck!
