Simply always say no to Skype Helper?

Is it best to simply say no, no, no, to the annoying Skype helper each time I like you use Skype, when you/I have already Version 8 installed and in use, on say Macs with OS 10.13.4 !?

I never needed any helper on the original nor on the newest Skype - but because Microsoft is not telling why bother or what is in it, and I see MacUsers saying it only help SPYING as well as BUGGING our Macs - but mostly because I could not yet find a way to CANCEL this PopUp on the new version — I am asking for help from your wisdom and better knowledge.

Thanks pals,

Mac user since 1984.

MacBook, OS X Yosemite (10.10.5), null

I hope my information is clear

Your information was clear. What appears to be not so clear is your understanding of the advice given.

You have a problem with a third-party app that is misbehaving. That is most likely because something is corrupt in its configuration files. That's why it keeps asking. Since it happened after an update to the software, corruption is quite likely the cause.

The advice given was to try to clear out the corruption which may include completely uninstalling the app, deleting the remnants it leaves behind, and reinstalling.

uninstall, and then reinstall Skype for Mac:

  1. Quit Skype by selecting Skype > Quit Skype.
  2. Open your Applications folder and drag your copy of Skype to the trash.
  3. Then open ~/Library/Application Support * and drag the Skype folder to the trash. The ~ sign represents your home folder.

Thanks K:

I hope my information is clear, as what I was asking, is how on my MacBook Pro with OS 10.13.4 with Version 8 of Skype (Which has a new menu, which does not include the "General" setting option to STOP suggesting Upgrades) - can I STOP this consistent PopUp.

It seems to me, the Microsoft is interested in knowing what Google and Facebook and others are also after in profiling us and our machines and life... ...As there is nothing telling us why we need this "HELPER"

If you see where I am not clear on what I was asking, please let me know.

Much thanks, Amnon
