Apple TV Remote Battery Draining Quickly

My Apple TV remotes typically last months between charges, but something has happened in the past few weeks (software update?), and now the remote for both of my Apple TV's (with Siri integration) are draining very quickly. If I charge the remotes to 100%, they are fully drained within 24 hours.

Since this started occurring simultaneously on two different remotes I surmise that this is a software issue recently introduced. The only way to stop the battery drain is to turn off the volume control and tv on/off function in the Remote settings. This is an annoying solution because it forces me to use a second remote to do anything besides navigating Apple TV.

I anyone else experiencing this problem recently? If so, have you found an acceptable solution?

While it is strange that still doesn't simply make it a software issue when you take into account the other facts. A bug is not going to result in an issue happening for a handful of people. I do vigorous testing for the forum and am unable to replicate the issue, the other poster as well. Anytime there actually is a bug this forum is full of reports. Also, the last software update was released 6 weeks ago and you only had the issue happening a few weeks ago at most.

Apple would still take a look, and if there was something in the hardware for your units they are good about giving replacements.

Hmmmm, it doesn't make sense that this started on two separate Apple TVs and remotes at the same time. The only other thing I can think of is that they're both hooked up to Samsung TV's, so perhaps there's a specific thing happening between those two items?

When you say restore, you mean a restore of the Apple TV itself, or is there way to wipe the remote clean and restore to factory defaults?

Hey thanks, I get you don’t think it’s a software issue but that defies logic when it occurs on two separate units at the same time, both of which were working without issue for 18 months prior. As someone who works in software I can tell you that even if something is working for a majority of people, it doesn’t mean that there isn’t a bug living in the code. I’ve just been on the phone with Apple support and they’re stumped, but had me soft reset the device to break and then reconnect the Bluetooth connection in case it’s somehow related to that. We’ll see. Taking it to Apple isn’t an option because they’re both out of warranty.
