No sound for incoming texts

i don’t get a sound when I get texts nor a vibration. It stopped all of a sudden do not dIsturb is not on and the silence button is not on

no sound when texting only between wife and significant other only between wife and myself, we have a no text sound issue. We get the texts but no audio. Have read posts from other people and they suggest that a do not disturb or no tone or blocked caller is engaged. Not our case. Thoughts please. This just started out of the blue a few days ago.
