How to setup a Time Capsule with BT hub

OK, here goes! before switching to BT I had Broadband with PlusNet, which featured

a modem connection. For my router I was using an Apple Time Capsule for both

router and wireless backup on my Mac. With the BT hub I understand modem and

router are combined, so I'm using BT wifi. I need to connect my Time Capsule

now purely as a wireless Time machine and external storage disk - not router - but all attemts to

setup so far have failed. Would you have any advice on how to set the

Apple Time capsule purely as a wifi Time machine backup device as well as an external storage device?

The Time Capsule must connect to the BT Hub using a permanent, wired Ethernet cable connection. It will not work with the BT Hub otherwise.

Connect from one of the four Ethernet ports on the BT Hub......choose any one that you wish......to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule.

To turn off the routing functions of the Time Capsule........

Log onto the Time Capsule wireless on your Mac

Open AirPort Utility on your Mac

Click on the picture of the Time Capsule

Click Edit in the smaller window that appears

Click the Network tab at the top of the next window

Insure that the setting for Router Mode is set to "Off (Bridge Mode)"

If you do not need the wireless network that the Time Capsule is providing for "guests" or the kids......

Click the Wireless tab at the top of the window

Change the setting for Network Mode to "Off"

Click Update at the lower right of the window to save the changes and give the Time Capsule a minute to restart and display a nice green light.

If by "erasing" you mean that you plan to delete the current network settings for the Time Capsule......so the Time Capsule will be reset back to original factory default settings........then you will have to start all over again and set up the Time Capsule from scratch.

That is a different procedure than the steps that I listed above.....which assume that the Time Capsule has not been reset back to its original factory default settings.
