Magic Trackpad 2 - Missing Settings

Thanks for the reply - my guess is then that either my OS or a setting is corrupted, or the trackpad is suffering a hardware failure. Interestingly, the trackpad always functions, including force touch. It's only the haptic feedback that goes out randomly.

Does your Haptic Feedback and Force Click work despite the settings not being there?

If you learn anything, if you don't mind, please let me know. I'll be bringing mine to an Apple Store, but I won't be near one until October.

From reading the thread, I thought you were providing suggestions, but I didn't realize you were having an issue. What are you experiencing, or do you just mean the settings being discussed aren't present for you either in 10.13.6?

I was in a chat about this with a "Senior Advisor" at Apple support last night. Just like you, my trackpad shows all the options on my Early 2015 MacBook Pro Retina, but NOT on my Late 2015 iMac. A few days ago I had tried re-installing High-Sierra 10.13.6 and still none of those options in System Preferences. With their advice, after trying removing the .plist files, and still not having the options for click, force click or haptic, the advisor spent some time checking on compatibility. After about 5 minutes they came back and told me that my Late 2015 iMac does not offer haptic or force click as options. Immediately after they told me this, our chat session disconnect due to "a technical issue", so I was not able to question why. My trackpad does work normally, just no haptic or force click. So, I guess there is nothing wrong with my iMac. Seems odd that two computers of similar vintage offer different results...., but I'm not about to screw around with it to potentially mess my iMac up.

Late 2014 iMac 5k here. Just wanted to add another data point; I just purchased the Magic Trackpad 2 and likewise, discovered the settings for haptic feedback were missing. The pad and haptic feedback works, but I cannot adjust the force.

Either I get more training with Obi-wan, or I may return the MT2 and go back to my magic trackpad 1.

Not to bust anyone's bubble in here, but I received an email from someone with this exact issue who I'm trying to help. They ARE running macOS Mojave 10.14 and using a 2012 MacBook Pro and the settings are still missing for them. So I'm not 100% sure this is simply macOS related. Has anyone tried simply deleting and recreating the `com.apple.driver.AppleBluetoothMultitouch.trackpad.plist` preference file? Also, what about possible conflicts with older 3rd party mouse/trackpad drivers or software? Conflicts with something like BetterTouch Tool?

Guys, I'm on Mojave Beta 10, and the settings are back! So it's not a hardware problem! Apple simply removed the settings since MacOS 10.13.6 (or 13.5?) it seems.

I installed Mojave (10.14) yesterday and am happy to report that the force click settings are back. BTW, Mojave is a wonderful upgrade.

You should Contact - Official Apple Support then.

I have the same problem with 2015 iMac. It just started out of the blue, not even after a restart. In addition to the settings not being there, the haptic feedback isn't working.

After a clean 10.13.6 install I know have the same issue!
