My PC doesn't recognize my 7 plus iPhone all of the sudden.

My PC computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPhone 7 plus and Apple Mobile Device USB driver is missing all of the sudden after I did a windows update 20/08/2018.

Since then my Iphone is not recognized from my PC w10 and the Device Manager shows the iPhone with a yellow exclamation point-! under the section "Other Devices".

When I do right-click>update driver>automated search for driver software update and try to update the driver it gives me Error for the Apple Mobile Device USB Composite Device.

Also when I doright-click>update driver>Manual search for driver software in my computer then in the Programs Files>Common Files>Apple, the Apple Mobile Device Service folder is missing completely. In the Apple folder I only see folders: Apple Application Support and Internet Services.

Now I want to clarify that I use my Apple cable as always and that it works fine when I plug it to my power brick. Also approximately a week ago was the last time I connected my iPhone to my PC with no problem and the phone could get charged and get recognized from my PC and iTunes just fine.

Also I did try several time to clean uninstall all apple programs with the specific order that I found on apple community Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates under the section "Removing and Reinstalling iTunes and other software devices" and I tried to reinstall iTunes and iCloud but the same problem insists.

Does anybody have the same issue with me and if so did you solve it?

Does anybody have any other ideas of how to solve this problem given the fact I tried all the upper solutions which are the most common solutions to this problem?

12.1.3 is too old. Download 12.8.0.150 from the direct links in the iTunes installers section of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates. Multi-language support is built into the installer. If you're going to do a component wise install all components must be from the same setup file if they are to work well with each other. AMDS may also have trouble installing if the C++ libraries aren't already installed. See the section on VC80 errors. Install that package and/or the Universal C Runtime mentioned below even if you're not seeing the error message.

See the Install missing components section of Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for a possible workaround to install Apple Mobile Device Support. When you reinstalled did you run the setup file as the administrator? What anti-virus software are you running? In some cases it may help to temporarily disable when reinstalling iTunes.

So the installation as administrator did help to download AMDS:

I tried to clean uninstall again and then left-click>install as admin the CURRENT version of iTunes.

It managed to download the AMDS but still doesn't recognize my iPhone 7 plus (software up to date iOS 11.4.1).

I also tried to restart the pc after installation to see if it helps but still not recognizing my phone.

Honestly I only wanted to transfer all my photos and videos to free some space on my phone as I have the 32Gb version and that is why I want my PC to recognize the phone so I can transfer them. Since my pc just refuses to recognize the phone I will try to upload all into iCloud. 😟

But if you have more ideas I would appreciate them, thank you so much for you time and help!

When I chose to manually upload the driver it won't let me chose the driver itself but only the folder:

User uploaded file

Thank you for the quick reply! Let me explain:

1. Install missing components: There is no file such as iTunesSetup.exe, itunes6464setup.exe oriTunes64Setup.exe in my downloaded files. I downloaded iTunes from Windows Store. Where could I probably find iTunesSetup.exe, itunes6464setup.exe oriTunes64Setup.exe file since it is downloaded with Windows Store?

2. Run the setup file as the administrator: When I reinstalled iTunes which was from Windows Store then I did a Run as Admin and then iTunes opened but still not connected to iPhone.

3. What anti-virus software I have: I don't have any additional anti-virus, only the pre-installed Windows Defender.

Should I try to disable Windows Defender to re install iTunes from Windows Store?

P.S. I can only find iTunes from Windows Store. Do you know if there is any direct itunes.exe file from apple to use for installation instead of windows store?

okay so, I tried the new current version, still didn't work same problems as said above.

But the weird thing is I also tried to I install one older version of iTunes and then the AMDS did install successfully !!!! BUT still didn't recognize my iPhone 7 plus both my PC an old version of iTunes. I guess win10 are messing up with the current version of iTunes or/and with ADMS current verison.

Is there any case my iPhone to be the problem?

The problem is still unsolved!

iTunes 12.6.3.6 is the minimum version that will connect to devices running iOS 11.

What anti-virus software do you have? Did you disable it as suggested? Did you right-click the setup file and use the Run as administrator option? Being the administrator of your computer isn't the same thing, the option gives the installer more power to write files where it needs to.

It isn't Windows 10 per se, a small number of people seem to have trouble with various builds, but it is different people with different builds. If it were everyone this place would be flooded. You seem to be unlucky on this occasion. Your iPhone isn't the reason AMDS isn't installing.
