No Haptic Feedback on Magic Trackpad 2 and missing settings

I have a Magic Trackpad 2 with a 2015 iMac running 10.13.6 High Sierra and the haptic feedback just stopped out of the blue. I checked in the trackpad settings and the checkbox for Silent Clicking and Force Touch & Haptic Feedback are missing in the Trackpad Settings pane. Force Touch does appear to still work.

I took it to a friend's house and connected to their iMac and immediately Haptic Feedback worked. The checkboxes mentioned above were still missing, but their iMac was running 10.10.5 Yosemite, which technically doesn't fulfill the system requirements for the Magic Trackpad 2, so that may be the reason.

When I got back home, I turned the trackpad on and the haptics worked again, although the missing settings were still missing. It lasted for about 5 minutes, then quit again out of the blue.

I've seen several posts about this missing settings since 10.13.6 was released. Is this a known bug? I've tried resetting the PRAM and the SMC (unplug for 15 seconds, plug back in for 5 seconds, then press the power button to turn on), but to no avail.

Any ideas out there? Is there some plist or settings file I could delete that may be corrupted?

I'm trying to figure out how to get this back as well. I've upgraded my late 2012 MacBook Pro to high Sierra and the prefferences for the haptics are missing. This is awful, as I want the strongest haptics feedback possible. I've got nerve damage to my hands and the haptics feedback's high strength was why I enjoyed the Magic Trackpad so much. Now it feels like a noodle, I can hardly sense input.

I certainly hope that this isn't some strange decision to take this feature out and that we can get this back. On my 2012 mini it works fine with Sierra on it, so I'm not going to upgrade any more of our computers until this feature comes back and I don't think I'll ever upgrade again until a few months have gone by. I understand if this is a bug, but I don't at all understand why limiting our choice to personalize our experience would be taken away and done without explanation as well.

Does anyone have a Mac running the new High Sierra where the magic tracked DOES still have the haptics feedback and silent clicking features available?

I have the same issue. The force touch makes it almost impossible to click and drag a file from one folder to another. Not being able to disable the force touch is costing me so much time.
