iPhone X overheating problem

I’ve had my iPhone X for about 2 months and within the last 3 weeks all it does is overheat and my phone will not stay charged. I had a case on my phone when i first noticed the overheating problem so I removed the case. If my phone is sitting in my house on the charger it gets beyond hot like I can’t touch it. Then when I begin using the phone it heats up to the point I can no longer touch it and that usually only takes about 5 minutes. I’ve tried looking at the battery usuage and life. Disabling certain features, making sure nothings running in the background and nothing seems to be helping.
