Disk Not Ejected Properly Issue

I recently fell victim to the "Disk Not Ejected Properly" issue. If you're here you probably know what I'm talking about, but to be clear: this happens when my MacBook Pro sleeps and unmounts and re-mounts external drives. It started happening after I got a new external monitor. Weird. Anyway, after I swapped out my Satechi USB-C to (4K) HDMI cable for a Belkin USB-C to USB-C cable the errors stopped. As soon as I switched back to the Satechi cable the errors returned. My monitor is an LG that supports Display Port over USB-C, hence the use of the Belkin cable. I don't know why this is happening but I thought I'd share the solution that worked for me.
