Java 8 update 181- cannot verify Java

Hi- I bought a new macbook air. Installed Java 8 update 181. I can see the Java icon in system pref.

Two Issues

I cannot verify JAVA install via the Java verify website

Edit exception site list - add button is greyed out.

I need Java to access my office computer remotely. As Java cannot be verified, my office software wont load.

Need help.
