I had to reboot my computer about 2 months ago and since then, the songs that I purchase off of itunes and the songs I get from my cd's won't load on the ipod. And when I plug my ipod into the computer, it keeps flashing " do not disconnect." The photos will load on it though. I've tried syncing it, changing the drive letter and Im out of ideas. And I have the latest version of itunes.

I recently got a new laptop and transferred all my music files from the old to the new one. I installed itunes and connected my ipod, and now all the files are erased from my ipod and I can't get them back on. I try to drag and drop, but it will not let me drop an item into my ipod. When I click on "autofill" nothing happens. I checked my settings and there is no "manually load music" option listed. I have a 1st generation shuffle. Can anyone help???
I recently had all the programs and files in my computer erased and had my computer converted back to its original settings. I had to redownload itunes, and when i downloaded it, all the songs in my library where erased. They are still on my ipod, but i can't download new songs. Can anyone help me?
I just got my ipod a couple months ago, and everything was syncing fine until I did one of the updates and now no new music will load onto it. So I ended up restoring it, and now nothing will go into my ipod. The capacity down at the bottom of my summary page says I have 510.20 GB of "other". I looked in my music folder, and all the songs are an .m4p instead of an .mp4... but itunes plays everything fine. Help??
This worked perfectly for me!! Thank you so much! I do have one question though: When manually updating your ipod, do you have to make sure not to 'drag and drop' the same song more than once? will it appear twice on your ipod if you do? or will it just cancel it out once there is already a song under that file name on the ipod, or will it do it automatically?
Also, (two questions, actually!) Each time you add a new song to the Music Library, do you have to go find it in the library then and drag and drop it onto the Ipod in the sources list for it to load onto the ipod?
When I set my iPod to manual, it started to show "Updating iPod. Do not disconnect." I dragged and dropped my music on there, and when Updating iPod didn't go away, I pressed Menu+Center for six seconds. The Apple icon showed up, then it went back to Updating iPod. I unplugged it. Now no music shows up, and whenever I plug it in, Updating iPod ccomes up, and won't go away. Help?
This solution worked perfectly for me. My purchased songs had transferred fine, but my videos weren't showing up on my ipod... however, the drag and drop manual option did it! Now everything works! Thanks!
Itunes crashes everytime I try to transfer more than one song manually to my ipod. Transferring one song is fine but not multiple songs. Any suggestions?
Hello all, I was wondering how to switch my ipod settings from "manually loading songs" to "automatic sync or loading" that have recently been added to my itunes library. I don't have a "settings" icon anywhere to click and change it. How do I go about changing this feature so my ipod will load any new songs added to my itunes library since my last sync. Without this feature set on automatic sync, I have to try and remember which new songs I have all added to my library and sometimes it is too many to remember and then I downloaded the music for nothing. Thanks in advance for any help!
Sorry for the delay, I think my email notifications have been having a bit of problems with this thread (so I didn't know that y'all had been asking some questions).
When you disconnected your iPod from your computer (and the songs weren't on it), this might have been caused because you hadn't ejected it from your computer before you disconnected it (it's a good idea to
eject your iPod before
disconnecting it if the iPod is displaying "Do Not Disconnect").
When you are manually managing your iPod in iTunes, this basically requires that you eject your iPod before you actually disconnect it from your computer (as opposed to automatically syncing your iPod).
There are a couple of ways to eject your iPod.
For one, you can eject your iPod in iTunes by clicking on the little arrow next to your iPod's name in the Source List.
Also, you can eject your iPod from the Safely Remove Hardware program, which is found in the System Tray icons, which is in the bottom-right corner of your computer screen.
