how to sort mailboxes in OS X mail?

My mailboxes in Mail on MacBook are out of order. All software is up to date. How do I sort them into alpabetical order instead of a jumbled mess? They are a mess in iCloud online too which I use when I am at work.

I don't know of any way to order them automatically - like alphabetically or otherwise.

When a new mailbox is created, Mail places it at the bottom. I just place it where it makes sense for me. They never got out of order accidentally or otherwise, so if you have many out of order I can only assume it is because you never sorted them.

Well, maybe there is a way to sort them if you know where Mail keeps that information, but it may be dangerous to go mess with some hidden xml file. If you make a mistake, things may go awry.

Yes, that is the hard way. This options is not feasible - I have many boxes out of order, and it is time-consuming to drag them. Many times the boxes slip into a folder on the way and it is not easy to to get them where I want them to go. Most mail programs automatically sort or have a sort option that makes it unnecessary to do all this manual work.
