I purchased a Neewer 700 mic in a kit, to record on Logic Pro X, but cannot get my MacBook Pro to acknowledge it is plugged in

I can't use my Neewer headphones and the mic at the same time since there is only one headphone input jack, and when I try to just use the microphone, it isn't being recognized on any program, or even in system settings.

MacBook Pro, iOS 11.4.1

That's because it has to be used together with an external audio interface. It's not a USB mic, where its own input would be recognized by the software. Were you connecting it directly to the headphone jack with a cable? If so, it would be useless, because it needs phantom power to operate properly. Look for an audio interface which has phantom power option for mic recording.
