Music stored on mac is calculated twice (double counted)

I'd like to reopen the discussion of this issue -- I'm having the exact same problem. I've moved my iTunes folder onto GoogleDrive and changed the file path of the iTunes media library to that location. There's nothing in the normal Music folder. My music is being double counted as it shows up under the Documents category:

See how lots of the files in the documents count are mp3s? If I go to those files in iTunes and then go "show in Finder" they show up in the GDrive location, the same path as if I follow these links in the Documents section, so there's no question this is a bug that needs to be resolved. I do not have these files stored twice on my machine.

In fact, the iTunes section is actually empty and yet counts towards the overall storage used up:

Sounds like a Google Drive (Backup and Sync) problem. I would talk to Google support. Also of course make sure you have the latest version.

What happens when you move your iTunes Library out of the Google Drive folder and into the Music Folder?

Well, I don't have doubles in High Sierra but I don't have Google Backup and Sync installed. If there is a problem in Sierra it's going to remain because Apple is no longer updating it.

If you check your disk space in the Finder are you missing any?

That might well fix it to be fair, but I don't particularly want to do it as then my music won't be backed up on GDrive. And I shouldn't have to since there's clearly a bug. I'm going to try reindexing spotlight first. But since I've found out that it is backed up elsewhere, I might go with your suggestionl

What makes you say that? See the other people who have been having my problem and make no mention of google drive.

Did you check the paths to see where they are located? I don't run Sierra anymore so I can't check it.

Am I confused about my problem? I think maybe I left out this image too...you can see that it is double counting documents and iTunes in the calculation of used space.

I explained as best I could. And as I mentioned, even if you think there is a bug there's nothing to be done about it because Sierra is no longer being updated.
