MacBook Pro not waking external display from Sleep

Hi,

I have a 2018 13'' MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. I am running MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

I have my Mac plugged into a Samsung S27E510C Monitor. When I put the MacBook to sleep, it puts the Monitor to sleep, however when I wake the laptop, the monitor remains in sleep - the only way to make this responsive again is to remove the USB-C to HDMI Cable I am using.

The monitor also appears to be flashing on and off every ten minutes or so. None of these issues happened with the previous usage of the monitor on another Mac.

I am using the laptop in "Clamshell Mode", I was wondering if anybody had a suggestion to remedy this problem?

Hey DanWood2508,

If I understand correctly, when you wake the MacBook Pro, the external display is not waking up. There are a couple things you can try that may be able to help. I would recommend you use this article to help troubleshoot the issue.

If starting in safe mode doesn't resolve the issue, reset your Mac's NVRAM and SMC to reset the video ports on your Mac to their defaults.

Just to cover all bases, besides the monitor you do have an external keyboard plugged in or associated with the Mac? That is a requisite for Clamshell Mode. If wireless, can you try with a wired one? Bluetooth can get funky.
