How to stop iBooks from opening a PDF

Drives me nuts! How do I get this to stop? Sometimes I can open the PDF without a problem and sometimes it comes up via iBooks and I can't read it ...

You could try selecting any pdf file (.pdf extension) with the Finder

select Get Info

then choose your preferred app (in this case Adobe Acrobat pro - in your case Preview)

and then select Change All

5. Mine shows Adobe, but yours may show something different. To change it to Preview, just click where it has the Open with: and select Preview.

then click on Change All
