How to stop iBooks from opening a PDF
Drives me nuts! How do I get this to stop? Sometimes I can open the PDF without a problem and sometimes it comes up via iBooks and I can't read it ...

look at these steps below
1. Navigate to your Documents folder
2. Find any file with the PDF icon on it or a file that ends with .pdf
3. Select the file - don't open it - and do a right click to Get Info
4. You should see the following
5. Mine shows Adobe, but yours may show something different. To change it to Preview, just click where it has the Open with: and select Preview.
then click on Change All
Give it a try. You can always change it back.
PS As you change a PDF via Finder as shown above, what is the default app right now?

Remember, you are changing the .pdf extensions on your files to open with Preview.

Ha! No clue. I don't see that. I am in OS 10.9.5
It's weird-it was fine for a bit and now it's back to iBooks. Man o' man. Thanks for helping.
Thanks for that detailed instruction! Mine looks like it is set to open with Microsoft Word
I just changed it to Preview-let's see if that works! Thanks again
