I need MS Office for my 2009 iMac, I have recently upgraded it to 8 GB. Will Office 365 work on this computer, or MS Office?

Office 365 will work. Office 2011 updated to the latest revision should also work up through 10.13.6.
That is a question you should be looking up on the Microsoft website. Look for system requirement for Office for Mac 2016 and see if it will support the version of Mac OS installed on your computer. This will take about 5 seconds if you use Google, in other words a much shorter time than it took for me to write this post.
