No option to turn off two factor authentication

I want to shut off the two factor verification. I looked at the instructions online, and it says to got to appleid.apple.com, and then shut it off under the security section. However, when I try to edit that section, I have no link to shut it off. How do I shut off the two factor verification when it's not given to me as an option?User uploaded file

As Apple customers we should have the right to decide if we want to continue two part security thing or not. This is a bunch of crap. I'm grown I can decide for myself what is secure enough and what isn't

And, as a company, Apple is entitle to decide what level of security they require if they're going to have your data on their servers so as to mitigate any liability they might have. You, as a grown up are also free to decide what product best meets your needs.

This is really annoying... I tried to install a free app today whilst not at home but I couldn't because of this 2 step verification (i.e. because I was not with my MacBook Air). Does anyone have a solution for this or do I have to instal apps when I have all of my devices on me

You only need one device as long as that device is on the trusted list. So, add whatever device you were trying to install the app on to the trusted lis.

I use older devices for music and pics, instead of storing all that on my new iPhone or iCloud - because that is what I choose to do, and am barraged with the 2-factor everytime I even try to use them - despite the fact said devices are already on my trusted list, & now to find out THIS

"Can I turn off two-factor authentication after I’ve turned it on?

If you already use two-factor authentication, you can no longer turn it off. Certain features in the latest versions of iOS and macOS require this extra level of security, which is designed to protect your information. If you recently updated your account, you can unenroll for two weeks. Just open your enrollment confirmation email and click the link to return to your previous security settings. Keep in mind, this makes your account less secure and means that you can't use features that require higher security."

Yea this *****. I lost my phone when I was out at the mall and used my friends phone to sign into icloud but i needed this 2 step verification crap so it won't let me sign in, thus me not being able to find my stolen iphone. I'm beyond angry at this, especially when i never signed up for it in the first place.

You do not need the 2FA code to log into Find My iPhone if you do it from a computer by going to www.icloud.com

I'm having similar issues which I think is really useless in the first place. How can we buy such expensive device and not have control over which functionality to enable? I broke my phone and couldn't get it fix before travelling abroad, upon arriving I acquired another phone and new sim. Now in other for me to retrieve some pictures I took with the old Iphone from the cloud for my work, I have to insert the old sim into the new phone and enable roaming to receive the two factor code just to access the the cloud. Now I've been billed for activating roaming just to access my own cloud and I've told by apple that I can't turn it off.

How can this be innovation in technological space. Apple, its clear to me you are really discouraging people from using your product. Next month I will gladly make that switch to another brand for my own sanity.

Totally agree with you, I can't use anything on my Mac Book Pro running 10.9.5 because I was duped into accepting it on a new phone running ios11. No my lap top can't run Facetime, my phone keep pinging me an authetication code but my computer doesn't have a space to enter them Good by Facetime with my Family on my Lap top.

Couldn't agree with your comments more I think Apple are dragging us all by a nose ring.

£1000's later, I phones, I pads, Lap tops and my whole system felled by a new blooming phone!!!

I am beyond incadesent with rage. I can use anything without this retched verication process, I dont have my phone on all the time, I dont want to have my phone with me to be able to log into this support "Need a verification code" can't log into Facetime on my Mavericks 10.9.5 (I dont like upgrades!!!) this is utterly ridiculous. I want to turn it off, it has made every action more frustrating and tedious. Why should I have to upgrade my system just because I was duped into adding this from a new phone. APPLE we have the right to decide. This needs urgent urgent attention

This is seriously aggravating. I was transferring from an iPhone 5 to a 6 and got fished into agreeing to two-factor authentication thinking I could just turn it off later (as I had done in the past). There's no warning to tell you otherwise and it was only after spending 45 minutes on a support ticket that I was told it couldn't be done. This is feature is a major hassle and defeats the purpose of being able to travel light if you have to have another bloody device with you to get a verification code. If you want that extra layer of security, fine but don't force the rest of us to deal with it if we don't choose too. I was advised that the only thing we can do is make our displeasure know at apple.com/feedback. I've done that and I suggest the rest of you do so as well.

At a minimum, all I want is the option to opt out of this ridiculous feature.
