No sound in some movies, tv shows...

I have no sound in "Infinity War", the menu screens are fine, music playing, but as soon as the movie starts, nothing. Same problem with the tv series "The Expanse". Everything else plays fine, even other recent purchases.

Windows 10, up to date.

Itunes up to date (12.8)

Sound drivers up to date.

All volume sliders checked.

External speakers checked.

Audio playback set to direct sound under preferences.

No problems with other shows, movies, music on this computer, everything plays fine on iPhone 6s including the two problem titles.

Found a solution. Uncheck "prefer AC3 Passthrough" under the audio and subtitles menu in the video window. Weird how it affects only some of my shows and movies but not others. Age of show or movie is not a factor. Been dealing with this crap for months. Never found a hint of this being a problem/solution anywhere.
