2017 macbook pro: long beeping noise and downloaded files? virus?

Hello,

Please help - I went on a website to watch an episode on safari and I think I must have clicked on something and suddenly there was a long beeping noise and looked liked it started to download loads of files! I quickly deleted the 3 files but I'm worried I have a virus on my 2017 MacBook pro!

Please can you help - is there anything I can do to protect my laptop? I only have AdBlock on safari and no other anti virus programmes installed. Nothing seems to be different on my laptop but I am worried it downloaded a virus!

If it only downloaded the files but did not install (install would prompt you to authenticate) then you are OK.

No Anti-Virus software or so-called “cleaning” apps are needed or recommended for Mac OS. They can conflict with Mac's own built-in security. At best they will slow your Mac by using unnecessary resources and at worst will bork your entire system.
