Glitches in bounced projects

Hi there,

Whenever I'm bouncing projects from Logic X, I keep getting minor drop outs/glitches in the audio file, usually in the same points in the track each time.

The glitches aren't there when I play back the project within Logic, only in the bounced audio file.

To find a solution, I've tried all of the following:

  • Bouncing both in offline & real time.
  • Saving on a seperate drive / desktop.
  • Moving the project to a seperate drive before bouncing.
  • Bouncing all the channels to single audio regions and turning off any plug-ins/automation etc.
  • Increasing buffer size etc.
  • Exporting as AIFF, WAV & MP3 with varying quality settings.

The annoying thing is, if I bounce a smaller section of the track where the glitch usually is, say about 10-20 secs, the glitch isn't there. Only when I bounce the full track.

Can anyone help please?

Do the dropouts happen at random places in the audio file or at the same specific spot? If it's random, then yes, it's a glitch. However, if it happens at a specific spot, then I'd look into signal chain and plugins used. Perhaps, there's a 3rd party plugin that does not work properly. But it's hard to tell just from the verbal description alone.

As workaround, you could bounce the problematic section of a track separately, then edit it into the bounced version where the glitches / dropout occur.

I'm using various instrument & FX plug ins but as I said in the original post, I bounced every channel down to audio and turned off all the plug ins & automation to see if that was the issue but I still got the glitches, which tend to be in the same places in the track every time, wether I bounce in real time or offline.

I have noticed that if I bounce offline, my CPU goes through the roof, but only around 20% if I do it in real time. But that doesn't make any difference to the end product.
